Boubyan Island and Mubarak Al-Kabeer Marine Reserve (MAKMR) is part of the Tentative list of Kuwait in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List.
Boubyan Island and its surrounding marine reserve lie in the Arabian Gulf. Extensive intertidal flooding reduces the land area every day by 40% between low tide and high tide. It is important for breeding and migratory birds such as the Crab Plover. Marine mammals include Indo-pacific humpback dolphins,, bottlenose dolphins, common dolphins and finless porpoises.
